Together,

"What If?"

becomes

"Let's Go."

The GOAT Collaborative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Western North Carolina with a simple but powerful goal: strengthen the organizations that strengthen our communities. We support local nonprofits working in food sustainability, environmental conservation, water resilience, agriculture, poverty alleviation, and community wellbeing.

OUR STORY

Rooted in Community.

Driven by Purpose.

The GOAT Collaborative began with a simple conversation about local struggles—small businesses fighting to grow, nonprofits stretched thin, and families seeking healthier, more sustainable lives. What started as an idea around a dinner table has grown into a mission built on partnership, community, and a belief that we can do better together.

While our long-term dream includes a working farm and gathering place for the community, our purpose started long before the land. Today, we support nonprofits already serving Western North Carolina—meeting needs, filling gaps, and building momentum toward a more resilient future.

OUR FOCUS

What we support

Around here, folks know that good soil, clean water, and a strong community don’t just happen—they’re cared for, tended to, passed down.

The GOAT Collaborative exists to back the people and nonprofits doing exactly that: protecting our food, our land, our water, and the neighbors who call Western North Carolina home.

Food

Sustainability

We back the people making sure Western North Carolina stays fed—and fed well. From small farms and community growers to our local food banks and pantries, we support nonprofits who are working to keep local, healthy food within reach for every family—helping them keep bringing people to the t

Community

& Connection

Because community grows strongest when people have places to meet, laugh, learn, and belong, we create the moments that bring people together—from shared meals to local gatherings, open-air markets, music nights, workshops, and the simple joy of showing up for one another.

Clean

Water

Water is one of our most precious resources—and one of our most vulnerable. Because of that, we support groups safeguarding water quality, expanding access, and strengthening our region’s ability to weather the storms, droughts, and climate challenges ahead, as well as water education to the public.

Environmental

Stewardship

This region’s beauty doesn’t protect itself. To keep this area beautiful, we partner with organizations focused on maintaining our lands, waters, and local environments—restoring soil, conserving forests, and championing practices that will keep our mountains, fields, and ecosystems thriving for generations..

Local

Agriculture

Healthy communities start with healthy land and the people who work it. We partner with our local growers and farmers, as well as those who work with the bounty provided from the local flora and fauna in order to build and maintain a sustainable food future from the ground up.

Local Non-Profit

Support

At the heart of our mission is a simple belief: when local nonprofits thrive, the whole community thrives with them. For that reason, we direct funding, resources, and awareness to organizations already doing essential work across Western N.C.—helping them keep serving the people who need them most.

OUR TEAM

The Faces Behind the Mission

Behind every strong community effort is a group of people willing to show up, roll up their sleeves, and keep the mission moving.
